The Outdoor Skill Share will be held at Talamh Housing Cooperative in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Talamh [pronounced 'talav' Gaelic for earth, land and soil] Housing Cooperative started in 1996 when a g roup of like minded friends bought the house and its remaining estate. Since then many different people have lived and worked there. They have fifty acres of land which includes wetlands, woodland and acid heath.

We’ll be in beautiful surroundings with lots to explore. We’ll also be situated amongst many opencast coal sites and just along the road from the old site of THWAC! (the Happendon Wood Action Camp) and the Mainshill Solidarity Camp which was evicted in January of 2010. For more information on both of these sites, South Lanarkshire and coal in general see here

Talamh has also hosted many events put on by outside groups and organisations. These include the Big Blether, The Festival of Dissent and Earth First!

How To Get There

It would be great if you could make your own way to Talamh – and there’s detailed info about local transport routes and links below. However, we will be providing a limited shuttle service from Lanark train station to Talamh on Friday and back again on the Monday (and maybe at other times if there’s demand).

Please let us know if you require this service what train you will be arriving on and we’ll do a couple of pick-ups when we can fill the minibus. Put ‘Transport’ in the subject line of your email to outdoorskillshare[at]riseup.net or call us on 07806926040. The earliest the better.
